Tulsa captured it's 11th-straight Lawless Cup and won all three races against Creighton on Saturday morning at the J. Bird Sr. Shell Nest in Catoosa, Okla.
"I thought the women raced really well," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "We had things we were working on technically and to see them attack those thing was a really good thing for the team. We're really happy Creighton came down to race, and having them here is important for us because the Lawless Cup has been traditionally raced against them."
In the title race, the Varsity 8+, Sam Barber, Helen Leigh, Ellie Russell, Lucy Coleman, Veronique Ulrich, Lauren Vander Hoeven, Paige Hallam, Sophia Camara and Hannah Vissers recorded a time of 6:38.5 for a 27-second win over the Bluejays (7:05.5).
Katie Shin, Amy Pitzel, Julia Herrel, Mikala Burns and Nichole Backus raced the Varsity 4+ to a top finish in a time of 7:42.85, while the Golden Hurricane's 2nd Varsity 4+ posted a second-place finish with a time of 7:44.17. TU's 3rd Varsity 4+ was third (8:02.19), while Creighton was fourth (8:29.61) in the race.
In the 2nd Varsity 8+, Eva Trabucco, Alessia Ruggiu, Madeline Oleksiak, Elisa Vandersloot, Elizabeth McCabe, Kristy Covre, Taylah Eder, Sydney Pirkle and Madeline Lyons posted a time of 6:56.40 to finish more than 34 seconds ahead of Creighton (7:31.10).
After the regatta, TU honored seniors Stephanie Call, Kristy Covre, Colleen Giesbrecht, Madeline Lyons, Elizabeth Natho, Eva Trabucco, Lauren Vander Hoeven and Hannah Vissers.
