Tulsa Stumbles Against No. 38 UCF

TULSA, Okla. – Majed Kilani and Boriss Kamdem earned singles match wins Friday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, but Tulsa (10-15) fell to the No. 38 UCF Knights (10-7), 5-2.

The No. 10 tandem of Korey Lovett and Eero Vasa knocked off the No. 53 ranked Joshua Goodger and Jarod Hing, 6-4, in the No. 1 doubles match. In the No. 2 position, Enrique Paya and Alan Rubio bested Kilani and Lucca Baptista, 6-3, as they claimed the doubles point for UCF.

Lovett won the opening stanza of the No. 1 singles match against the No. 114 ranked Kilani, 6-4. Kilani was resilient as he stormed back to win the second set, 6-2. Kilani used the momentum from the second and pulled away with a 6-4 victory in the third. With the win, Kilani improved to 13-6 in dual matches.

In the No. 6 position, Kamdem broke Danny Kerznerman's serve twice, on the way to a 6-2 first-set victory. After Kerznerman claimed the second set, 7-5, Kamdem bounced back and took the third set, 6-4. Kamdem is now 5-6 in dual singles play.

Gabriel DeCamps upset the No. 95 Goodger, 6-4 and 6-3, in the No. 2 singles match. Rubio claimed a 6-3, 3-6, and 6-1 victory against Baptista in the No. 3 spot. In the No. 4 match, Mikhail Sokolovskiy bested Hing, 7-5 and 6-3. Vasa defeated Mitchell Pritchard 6-2, 5-7, and 6-4, in the No. 6 matchup.

The Golden Hurricane returns to action on Wednesday, April 11, as it makes a trip back to Texas. Tulsa will battle the No. 29 Texas Tech Red Raiders at 5 p.m.
