Golden Hurricane Dropped 4-2 Decision Against No. 10 Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. – Alexandrina Chinikova collected the Golden Hurricane's lone singles victory on Friday at the Greenwood Tennis Center. No. 29 Tulsa (16-5) fell to No. 10 Oklahoma State (15-2), 4-2.

Tamara Kupkova and Rouxanne Janse van Rensburg defeated Sami Court and Megan McCray in the No. 3 doubles match, 6-2. Vera Ploner and Shura Poppe clinched the doubles point for the Hurricane, as they knocked off Katarina Stresnakova and Marina Guinart, 6-3, in the No. 2 spot.

The No. 9 tandem of Vladica Babic and Sofia Blanco bested the No. 86 duo of Ksenia Laskutova and Martha Matoula, 6-1, in the No. 1 doubles position.

In the No. 6 singles match, Chinikova blew through the first set and claimed a 6-0 victory, as she broke Court's serve three times. Chinikova stormed away with the second stanza, much like the first, 6-0. Chinikova improved to 4-4 in dual matches and gave Tulsa a 2-0 lead.

The No. 23 ranked Babic defeated the No. 73 Laskutova, 6-2 and 6-1, in the No. 1 spot. The No. 93 Guinart tied the match for the Cowgirls, 2-2, when she beat Matoula, 6-2 and 6-3, at the No. 4 position. McCray, the No. 36 ranked player, bested the No. 101 ranked Martina Okalova in the No. 2 singles match, 6-3 and 6-4. The No. 107 ranked Stresnakova knocked off Kupkova, 7-5 and 6-1, at the No. 3 spot as she clinched the match for Oklahoma State, 4-2.

The Golden Hurricane returns to action on Sunday, April 8, at 11 a.m. Tulsa will host the North Texas Mean Green at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
