Hardy Wins 800-meter Run at Bill Williams Invitational

Joplin, Mo - Junior Melanie Hardy won the 800-meters at the Bill Williams Invitational in Joplin, Mo., to lead The University of Tulsa track teams on Saturday. The women's 4x100-meter relay team also won its event, as the Golden Hurricane posted 10 top-three finishes on the day.
Hardy was one of five Hurricane to run in the 800m, winning with a personal best time of 2:08.79. The 4x100m relay team recorded a winning time of 46.00.
Senior Chatney Noble finished second in the 200-meters and the 400-meters with times of 25.14 and 56.21, respectively. Freshman Ashley Ast finished second in the javelin with a throw of 37.10m (121'9"), while the women's 4x400-meter relay team finished second in a time of 3:44.64.
Sophomore Brie Penaluna finished third in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.36m (17'7")
On the men's side, senior Ben Orozco finished second in the men's 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:00.28. Freshman Charles Ramsdell finished second in the high jump with a jump of 1.98m (6'6").
The men's 4x400-meter relay team finished third in the event with a time of 3:7.86.
On Friday, junior Justin Rempel finished second in his section of the 1,500-meters at the Cardinal Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. His time of 3:45.86 at the meet hosted by Stanford topped his previous WAC-leading time by nearly three seconds.
