TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa volleyball senior Ashley Hooper and sophomore Ashton Anderson take us on an all access tour of their locker room in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
The Reynolds Center was built in 1995, and a brand new court was installed in 2014.
Tulsa's new video board was debuted on Dec. 17, 2013. It is 30 feet wide and 15 feet high on the two main boards, while the end boards are 12 feet wide by 15 feet high. All of the boards have a six-millimeter display. The video board is part of a $2 million project, which was funded with a generous donation from ONEOK, that also includes a new sound system and two 4x12 video boards.
Over the last ten years the Golden Hurricane has won over 85% of its matches in Reynolds Center.
The common team room includes a high definition flat screen television, a fridge with an ice-maker, and comfortable couches to relax on between practices and classes.
Inside players lockers are top and bottom storage, and the top storage has vents which gives it the ability to air out practice gear. There is a middle portion in the locker that you can lock, and inside that compartment there is a USB charging port, which can be very useful.
There is also a wonderful sound system in the locker room that the players like to listen to before the games to get pumped.
The location of the locker room is extremely convenient, because just around the corner and up the stairs is the training room and the weight room.
Volleyball has its own separate practice gym, which the team has 24/7 access to. In the practice gym they have a Noah Setting System, which helps setters tell how high or low, as well as the speed of which they are setting the ball.
