PROVIDENCE, RI –– The University of Tulsa golfer Lorena Tseng was named the American Athletic Conference Women's Golf Athlete of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.

The honor comes just hours after the sophomore won her second career tournament on Tuesday at the ICON Invitational in The Woodlands, Texas.

Tseng carded rounds of 72-70-67 for a 7-under par score of 209 at The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course. She sat two strokes out of first place at the start of the final day and went on to birdie 6 holes with just one bogey for her final round score.

After going 1-over par through her first 4 holes, holes 7 through 11 in the shotgun start, Tseng birdied 5 of her next 8 holes for a 4-under score going into her 13th hole, which was Hole No. 1.  She shot even-par for 5 straight holes before ending the round with her 6th birdie of the day on the par-5, 548-yard 6th hole.

The victory marks Tseng's 5th top-10 finish this year and her first career win since a 13-under par winning score last season at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. In 19 career tournaments, Tseng has placed among the top-10 in 13 tournaments, has 8 top-5 performances and two victories.

This is Tseng's third AAC award for her career, but first weekly honor. Tseng was named The American's Golfer of the Month last year as a freshman in back-to-back months (Sept. and Oct.).

Tulsa will be back in action next on March 20-22 at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Arizona.
