Tulsa to Face UConn in American Athletic Conference Championship Game on Sunday

Tulsa's fourth-seeded men's soccer team will take on third-seed UConn in the American Athletic Conference Championship game on Sunday, November 15 beginning at 1:00 pm Central at the Corbett Soccer Stadium on the USF campus in Tampa, Fla. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU. WATCH HERE
TU has a 7-6-5 overall record and tallied a 3-3-2 mark in league play. The Golden Hurricane tied No. 5 seed UCF, 2-2, and advanced to the American Athletic Conference Championship semifinals, 4-2, on penalty kicks in a shootout on Saturday, November 7 at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU then tied No. 1 seed and seventh-ranked SMU, 2-2, and advanced to The American Championship, 4-3, on penalty kicks on November 13 at the Corbett Soccer Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
Tulsa has tallied 31 goals this season from 13 different players, including a team-best six scores from Juan Sanchez, while Geoffrey Dee has five goals, Bradley Bourgeois has four scores and Michael Mitrik has three goals. TU also has 30 assists from 12 players, including five from Dee, and four each from Ray Saari and Zach Jackson.
Jake McGuire has played the majority of minutes in goal, while Brandon Hanat and Marcel Da Silva have each played in two games. The trio have combined for 70 saves and three shutouts for a .745 saves percentage, and allowed 24 goals for a 1.24 goals-against average.
Tulsa ranks 32nd in total assists (30), 45th in total points (92), 46th in scoring offense (1.72 gpg) and 47th in total goals (31) and among the nation's best.
UConn has a 9-5-5 overall record, including a 3-3-2 mark in The American. The Huskies are led by Abdou Thiam with 11 scores, while Kwame Awuah has 10 assists. Scott Levene has played every minute in goal for 58 saves and seven shutouts for a .795 saves percentage, while allowed 15 goals for a .74 GAA.
During the regular season, TU and UConn battled to a 1-1 double-overtime tie on October 24 in Tulsa. The Huskies have a 2-0-2 lead in the series.
