Tulsa to Face #8 Notre Dame Today in NCAA Championship Second Round

The Tulsa men's soccer team will take on No. 8 Notre Dame in NCAA Championship second round action today, Sunday, November 22, at Alumni Stadium in South Bend, Indiana with a start time 1:00 pm (CT).

The Golden Hurricane, which has a 9-9-1 mark in the NCAA Tournament, advanced to the Second Round after defeating 16th-ranked FIU, 3-2 (OT) on Thursday at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
           
Tulsa has faced eight top-25 opponents, including three in the top-five, so far this season.  The Golden Hurricane defeated #16 FIU in the NCAA Championship First Round (3-2, OT), tied #2 Virginia (1-1) and #7 SMU (2-2) in the conference tournament, and fell to #1 Creighton (1-0), #4 North Carolina (2-1), #18 SMU (3-2) in the regular season, #18 USF (2-1) and #22 Saint Louis (1-0, 2OT).
 
Tulsa has tallied 35 goals this season from 13 different players, including a team-best seven scores from Juan Sanchez, while Geoffrey Dee has six goals, and Bradley Bourgeois and Miguel Velasquez both have four scores.  TU also has 32 assists from 13 players, including five from Dee, and four each from Ray Saari and Zach JacksonJake McGuire has logged the majority of minutes in goal for the Hurricane this season, picked up 61 saves and two shutouts for a .726 saves percentage, and has allowed 23 goals for a 1.26 goals-against average.
 
Notre Dame, which is the No. 7 seed and No. 8 ranked NSCAA team, has an 11-4-5 overall record and posted a 4-2-2 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).  UND had a bye in the First Round and received an at-large bid after falling to 13th-ranked Syracuse in the ACC Championship final.
 
The Fighting Irish are led by Jon Gallagher with nine scores, while Thomas Ueland has four goals and four others have three scores.  Evan Panken has a team-high eight assists.  Chris Hubbard has played the majority of minutes in goal, picked up 59 saves and eight clean sheets for a .787 saves percentage, and has allowed 16 goals for a 0.76 GAA.
 
This will mark the first time in school history that Tulsa and Notre Dame will meet on the men's soccer pitch.
