Two Professional Teams Highlight 2016 Men’s Soccer Spring Schedule

Two professional teams, including the Tulsa Roughnecks and the Swope Park Rangers, highlight the 2016 Tulsa men's soccer spring schedule, as announced today by head coach Tom McIntosh. TU will host five of the six games this spring at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. All home spring men's soccer games are free admission.
The Golden Hurricane recorded an 8-6-7 mark last fall and advanced to the NCAA Second Round. TU tallied 36 goals from 13 different players, including a team-best eight scores by freshman Juan Sanchez. Tulsa ranked first in shots (334), second in goals (36), assists (33), points (105) and saves (84), and third in shutouts (3) among the American Athletic Conference teams, and was 27th in goals, 30th in total points, 31st in total assists and 38 in scoring offense (1.71 gpg) in the nation.
TU will first take on Missouri State on Thursday, March 3rd beginning at 7:30 pm at the Hurricane Stadium. The Bears were 6-6-5 last season and fell in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament.
A week later, the Golden Hurricane will play USL professional team, the Tulsa Roughnecks, on Thursday, March 10 at 7:30 pm at the Hurricane Stadium. The Roughnecks posted an 11-11-6 record in their inaugural season a year ago.
TU will host both Northeastern State and Midwestern State on Saturday, April 2 beginning at 10:00 am and 3:30 pm, respectively. The Riverhawks tallied a 12-6 record, while the Mustangs earned a 17-1-1 mark and advanced to the NCAA Division II Third Round last season.
Tulsa will face crosstown rival Oral Roberts on Saturday, April 9 at 6:00 pm at the Hurricane Stadium. The Golden Eagles posted a 7-7-4 record and fell in the Summit League Championship game a year ago.
TU will make its only road trip to face the Swope Park Rangers, the Sporting Kansas City USL affiliate, to close out the season on Saturday, April 16 at 4:00 pm. SPR is a new team in 2016.
