Tulsa Men’s Soccer Team Begins Preseason Practice

8/10/2016 5:26:00 PM | Men's Soccer

The Tulsa men's soccer team began preseason camp today for the 2016 season with the first team practice.

TU had 30 players report to camp, including 13 returning letterwinners.  Head Coach Tom McIntosh begins his 22nd season at the helm, as TU looks to improve on its 8-6-7 overall record and 3-3-2 mark in American Athletic Conference play from last year.

"We are excited to get the process restarted," McIntosh said.  "It was good to see the guys.  They had a good energy level, and our returns have come back with a good mindset, in good physical condition and were anxious to pick up where we left off in the spring.  We just need to keep growing as a group.  I thought the young guys fit in well today as they continue to understand our play and what we demand out of our players.  Before our first exhibition on Sunday we will focus on finding our top 11, which will allow us to get quickly into roles and responsibilities, and then work on our depth players through 18."

The Golden Hurricane begins play with an exhibition game against Maryland on Sunday, August 14, with two more warm-up games prior to the season opener at CSUN on Friday, August 26.  Tulsa's home opener is Wednesday, August 31 against UMKC at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
