Tulsa Men’s Soccer Team Hosts #16 Akron and Santa Clara this Week

The Tulsa men's soccer team returns home to host #16 Akron and Santa Clara this week at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU will host the Zips on Friday, September 16 at 8:00 pm, and the Broncos on Monday, September 19 at 7:00 pm.
Tickets are $5 general admission and can be purchased at the north ticket gate (cash only), online at TulsaHurricane.com or by calling the TU Athletic Ticket Office at 918.631.4688.
The first 150 fans to Friday's game will receive a "We Are The Storm" pennant and TU players will be signing autographs after the game.
Fans unable to attend the match in person can watch it live on TulsaHurricane.com/watch. There is a 24HR Pass, a Monthly Pass and Yearly Pass that allow you to watch all TU home men's and women's soccer, volleyball and softball games depending on the package purchased.
The Golden Hurricane, which is now 2-1-2 on the season, defeated host UAB (1-0) and tied Stetson (2-2) to claim the UAB Soccer for a Cure Classic last weekend in Birmingham, Ala.
Sophomore Jacob Gooden has a team-best three goals, while senior Ray Saari has two scores, and sophomore Juan Sanchez and freshmen Matthew Puig and Casper Venstad have all added one goal. Quinton Duncan and Saari both have a team-best two assists.
Jake McGuire has logged all 490 minutes between the posts this season, and has picked up 10 saves and earned two shutouts. In his career, McGuire ties Tyrel Lacey's (2005-08) mark of 13 career clean sheets for the most in school history, and has 191 saves, the third most in school history. Both records include players dating back to 1996.
Akron enters the contest with a 4-2 overall record, including a 3-2 mark against ranked opponents. The Zips are led by Adam Najem and Skye Harter with two goals each, while Jonathan Lewis has a team-high three assists. Ben Lundt has played every minute in goal, and has picked up 18 saves and recorded four shutouts.
Santa Clara is currently 3-2, but will take on SMU on Friday before making the trip to Tulsa. Three different Broncos players have put one into the back of the net, while only one goal was assisted. Dakota Havlick has played all 450 minutes between the posts, picked up 11 saves and has two clean sheets.
