
Three Professional Teams Highlight 2017 Men’s Soccer Spring Schedule

Three professional teams, including the Swope Park Rangers, Tulsa Roughnecks and Oklahoma City Energy, highlight the 2017 Tulsa men's soccer spring schedule, as announced today by head coach Tom McIntosh. TU will host four of the six games this spring at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
The Golden Hurricane recorded a 10-5-5 overall record last fall and advanced to the NCAA Championships after claiming their third-straight American Athletic Conference title. TU tallied 32 goals from 13 different players, including a team-best eight scores by freshman Matthew Puig. Tulsa ranked first in goals and points (91), and second in shots (279) and assists (27) in The American.
TU will take on the Swope Park Rangers, the Sporting Kansas City USL affiliate, to begin the season on Sunday, February 26 in Kansas City. SPR is in just its second-year of competition after posting a 14-10-6 mark last season.
Tulsa will start a four-game home stand beginning with the Tulsa Roughnecks on Saturday, March 4. Game time is set for 4:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium and is a double-header with the Tulsa women's soccer team taking on Oklahoma State at 6:00 pm. Tickets for the double-header are $5 general admission. The Roughnecks tallied a 5-21-4 mark last year in their second year as a USL program.
The Golden Hurricane will host both Midwestern State and Northeastern State on Saturday, March 25 beginning at 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm, respectively, at the Hurricane Stadium. The Mustangs tallied an 18-4-1 overall record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II National Championship last season, while the Riverhawks were 7-9-1 a year ago.
The last home game of the spring campaign will come against Missouri State on Saturday, April 1 at 5:00 pm. The Bears earned nine wins last season, but fell in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship game.
Tulsa will conclude the 2017 spring campaign against the USL affiliate Oklahoma City Energy in Oklahoma City on Friday, April 21. The Energy earned a 10-7-13 overall record last season.
