Tulsa Tops Oral Roberts in Crosstown Matchup, 2-1

The Tulsa men's soccer team came from behind to capture a 2-1 win over crosstown rival Oral Roberts in an exhibition contest on Saturday night at the Case Soccer Complex on the ORU campus.
Jose Castro put ORU on the board at the 30:28 mark as he drilled in a shot from 16-yards out and the Golden Eagles held onto that 1-0 lead at the break.
Rollie Rocha punched in a penalty kick in the 51st minute to even the score, and then Chase Bromstedt gave TU the go-ahead goal at the 64:25 mark off a pass from Cameron Drackett.
ORU had an 18-12 lead in shots, but TU had a 10-8 advantage in shots on goal, and both teams had five corner kicks.
Miguel Velasquez had a team-leading four shots, two of which were on goal, while Rocha and Harris Partain both added three attempts. Cooper Clark logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up eight saves.
The Golden Hurricane dropped a 2-1 decision to Rogers State in an exhibition contest earlier in the day at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
Tulsa will open the regular season on Friday, August 25 against Wisconsin. Game time is set for 8:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
