Box Score

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa women's soccer team won its first overtime game of the season in four tries on Friday night, with a 2-1 victory over Nevada at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex. Tulsa had three other games go to overtime this season, with two ties and a loss.

Sophomore Staci Morgan got the Golden Hurricane on the board with a shot land in the left corner of the goal from 10 yards out at the 22:04 mark of the first half. The goal is Morgan's fourth of the season. Senior Melissa McCormick picked up her fifth assist of the season, giving her 18 over her career. McCormick needs only one more assist to tie the school record for assists in a career. The current mark of 19 is held by Shari Rozmus (1988-91). McCormick also needs only two points to move into fifth place on the all-time points chart for TU.

The Wolfpack (0-16-1, 0-6-1 WAC) tied the score at the 74:04 mark of the second half when Leisha Makinano turned and fired from 15 yards out.

Tulsa had a chance to win the game in the closing seconds, however Julie Twellman's shot with :08 left sailed just above the goal.

The overtime period continued much like the second half, with the teams trading scoring opportunities. The Hurricane were able to get the game winning goal as freshman Holly Lorman put her head on sophomore Keely Flynn's centering pass off a corner kick.

The Golden Hurricane outshot the Wolfpack 18-10, as Twellman recorded seven of TU's shots. Freshman goalkeeper Abby Fahrig picked up five saves, allowing only one goal. Her 106 saves on the season is the third highest season total in school history. Fahrig needs only four more saves to record the second-highest total ever at TU.

Tulsa (9-7-2, 4-3 WAC) will regular season on Sunday afternoon, as the Huricane host Boise State at 1 p.m. The game will mark the final home game for TU seniors Melanie Beaulieu, Shannon Blatny, Corienne Bowman, Kara Heer, Melissa McCormick and Beth Taruscio.
