Baton Rouge, La. - For the fourth consecutive weekend, the Golden Hurricane had to wait on Mother Nature. Tulsa has yet to complete a full tournament schedule, thanks to heavy rains and soggy conditions. The same was true for the LSU Purple and Gold Challenge in Baton Rouge, La., this weekend. Tulsa fell to #21 Southern Mississippi (5-4) and #8 LSU (5-0).

The Hurricane scored three runs in the top half of the fourth inning to take a 4-3 lead. However, the Golden Eagles scored twice with one out in the bottom of the seventh for the victory. Freshman Monica Chana was the big hitter for TU, as her double in the fourth scored two of the three runs. She would later score herself.

In the second game of the day, TU faced the eighth-ranked Tigers. LSU scored in the top half of the first inning and never looked back. The Tulsa offense was never on track, recording only one hit and two base runners advanced to second base. Junior hurler Jenny Magill tried to keep the Hurricane in the game, as she relieved starter Amy Van Huss in the fourth inning. Magill did not allow a run on one hit and five strikeouts. Sophomores Christy Watkins and Danielle Olsen, both picked up stolen bases after receiving a base-on-balls.

Tulsa will return to action on Monday afternoon with a single game against LSU at Tiger Park starting at 3 p.m. The Hurricane will also face #37 Louisiana-Monroe on Tuesday, March 6th in Monroe, La., at 4 p.m.
