Hawai'i Completes Sweep of Golden Hurricane

Sand Springs, Okla. - The University of Tulsa suffered its second Western Athletic Conference series sweep of the season, as the Wahine of Hawai'i won the final two games of a four game series on Saturday afternoon, 3-0 and 7-0, at Charles Page High School Softball Field.

The Golden Hurricane certainly had its chances stranding 10 runners on base and scattering six hits. Tulsa's best scoring opportunity came in the fifth inning when it loaded the bases with only one out. A strikeout and a fly out later, no runs scored and the inning was over.

Both junior Jessie Smith and freshman Lauren Capriotti went 2-for-2 from the plate. Junior Jenny Magill suffered the loss, falling to 9-17 on the season. She did strike out six Wahine batters in the complete game effort.

In the second game of the day, UH pounded out 13 hits,left 12 runners on base and capitialized on six Hurricane errors. Sophomore Christy Watkins did record her sixth double of the season for TU. Watkins was one of three TU batters to earn a hit in the game.

Magill was again saddled with the loss, only pitching six innings and facing three batters in the seventh.

Hawai'i (42-16, 12-4 WAC) stayed within a game of league leading Fresno State with the four wins. Tulsa falls to 12-38 on the season and 2-10 in the WAC.
