Denver - The University of Tulsa has had three first team all-conference softball players in the history of its program, now it has four. Sophomore infielder Brandi McGuire earned a spot on the All-Western Athletic Conference squad as a utility player.

Having started the season platooning at third base, McGuire found her way to first base. With the emergance of younger players and injuries at other positions, TU head coach James Pinkerton knew he needed McGuire's bat in the line up. She proved to be a defensive help as well, recording a school-record 20 putouts against Creighton. After the second week of WAC competition, McGuire led the conference with a .417 batting average.

McGuire's late season run helped her finish fifth in the WAC in doubles (11) and 11th in the league in batting average (.285). She also led the team in both categories as well as putouts (261). While her batting average was the Hurricane's best since 1998, her double output was better than any output over the past four seasons.

Senior Ann Mesman was TU's first WAC first-teamer, while now assistant coach Angela (Fuller) Guerin and Kameron White were first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selections in the 1996 and 1994 seasons, respectively.
