Tulsa Selected to Host 2003 Williams WAC Basketball Tournaments

Tulsa, Okla. - The Western Athletic Conference office announced on Thursday the 2003 Williams/WAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championship Tournaments will return to Tulsa, Okla., for the third consecutive year. The Donald W. Reynolds Center will once again play host for the event on March 12-15, 2003.
"We are excited that Tulsa has agreed to once again host the WAC basketball tournament," said Karl Benson, WAC Commissioner. "The Tulsa Sports Commission and The University of Tulsa did an excellent job in hosting our premier event of the year. We look forward to the next two tournament."
Fans, administrators, coaches, players and the media have been unanimous in their praise of the Williams WAC Basketball Tournament. The Tulsa Sports Commission Chairman, Brad Beasley, is confident that the fans and sponsors will continue to support this tournament in 2002 and 2003 as enthusiastically as they have in the past.
"It is a tremendous honor to have the privilege of hosting the Williams WAC Basketball Tournament in 2003 for the third consecutive year," said Beasley. "The confidence of the WAC Commissioner's office along with that of the Presidents and Athletic Directors of the conference schools in awarding us the 2003 tournament is extremely gratifying. This decision is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the City of Tulsa and its citizens, The University of Tulsa and its staff, the Tulsa Sports Commission and its staff, and most importantly, the fans. Through their efforts, the Williams WAC Basketball Tournament has become one of the premier collegiate basketball tournaments in the country."
