Swanson, Johnson Lead Tulsa in Win Over Dominican Republic National Team

Tulsa, Okla. - Tulsa seniors Dante Swanson and Kevin Johnson led the Hurricane in exhibition play to a win over the Dominican Republic National Team, 101-72, in front of 7,193 fans at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
In the second exhibition game of the season for the Hurricane, TU dominated the first half, out-scoring their opponent by a two-to-one margin. The Dominican Republic National Team started strong, scoring first in the game, but the Hurricane went on a 12-3 scoring run that gave TU the boost they needed to come out with a win. The Hurricane continued to dominate throughout the first half and entered the locker room leading by a score of 49-24.
In the second half, the Dominican Republic National Team cut the Tulsa lead to 17 points, 69-52, near the eight-minute mark. Over the next two minutes Tulsa outscored the visitors 13-4 with Swanson scoring seven of Tulsa's points. From that point, the Tulsa lead fluctuated from 24 to 29 points. Freshman Seneca Collins put the Hurricane over the century mark for the second exhibition game this season by hitting two free throws with 0:17 remaining.
Swanson led the Hurricane in scoring and steals with 18 points, including two treys, and five steals. He was second in assists with six, only trailing junior Jason Parker by one. Johnson added 15 points and was 7-of-12 from the field. Antonio Reed added 14 points, followed by Parker, Jarius Glenn and Marqus Ledoux with 11 points each.
Marlon Martinez led the Dominican Republic National Team with 18 points, followed by Carlos Panniagua and Amaury Fillion adding 14 points each.
