Blue Defeats Gold in Annual Tulsa Basketball Scrimmage, 56-52

Senior guard Dante Swanson's 17 points led the Blue team to a 56-52 victory over the Gold team in Tulsa's annual Blue-Gold scrimmage.

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Blue team scored 13 points in the final 3:30 of the game to defeat the Gold squad 56-52 in the annual Blue-Gold Scrimmage on Sunday afternoon at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

The Blue team, which held a six point lead at halftime, 30-24, came out of a timeout with just over three minutes to play and outscored the Gold team 13-4 to close out the contest. Before that, the Gold team built a five-point lead, 48-43, with a 12-0 run of there own.

At halftime, the Blue held a 30-24 lead with guard Dante Swanson and forward Marqus Ledoux, both seniors, leading the way with 9 and 8 points, respectively.

In the second half, the Gold team's Kevin Johnson knotted the score at 43-43 with 4:53 remaining in the contest. His 10-foot jumper from the right side was his 14th point of the second half. The Gold scored the next five points on layups by sophomore Jarius Glenn and freshman Anthony Price. Price also added a free throw.

The Blue team made its final push to claim the victory, as senior Charlie Davis scored five points and Swanson and redshirt freshman Trevor Meier added four points in the final three minutes.

For the game, Johnson led all scorers with 22 points for the Gold team. Price had a double-double for the Gold team with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Swanson led the Blue scorers with 17 points, while Davis added 11 and junior Jason Parker and Ledoux added 10 points apiece.

Tulsa's first exhibition game is on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2:05 pm, against Makesure Sports.
