Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa freshmen duo of Danielle Fauteux and Jamie German has been named to the Western Athletic Conference first and second teams, respectively, as the 2002 WAC postseason awards were announced today by the league office.

Fauteux, a native of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, recorded one of the best seasons by a freshman in recent years. The first-year forward started 17 of 18 games in 2002 and led the Golden Hurricane in both goals and scoring with 11 goals and also had three assists for 25 total points. Her 25 points are the ninth-best point total in a single-season, and tie her with three former Hurricane for seventh-place on the school's single season goals list. The 25 points this season is also the second-best point total by a freshman in school history. Fauteux was named the WAC's Offensive Player of the Week twice in 2002 and she broke a school record for hat tricks in one season with three. Fauteux is the first freshman to earn all-WAC first-team honors since Beth Taruscio in 1998.

German, who hails from nearby Owasso, Okla., started 17 of 18 contests during her first season and registered five goals and eight assists for 18 points. Her goals and points ranked second on the team, while her eight assists not only led all Tulsa players, but ranks second on the school's single-season chart. Perhaps her best game of the year came against SMU when she posted two goals and led the Hurricane to its first win over the Mustangs in 10 years and also handed SMU its first league loss since 1999. German is the third freshman in school history to be selected to the all-WAC second team and the first since current Tulsa senior Julie Twellman received the honor during her first campaign in 1999.
