Tulsa Tops UTEP, 88-76

EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Kevin Johnson paced a balanced scoring attack with 20 points to lead Tulsa to an 88-76 victory over Texas-El Paso on Saturday night.
UTEP kept it close as Tulsa (20-4, 11-2 Western Athletic Conference) led 61-59 with 12:08 left. But Tulsa then went on a 21-7 run to take an 82-66 lead with 5:43 left. UTEP didn't get any closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
Dante Swanson scored 17 points for the Golden Hurricane while Greg Harrington and Jason Parker added 14 points apiece. Antonio Reed scored 11 points and dished out seven assists.
UTEP (9-16, 3-10) was led by Justino Victoriano's 19 points. Eugene Costello added 15 points, Victor Luces scored 12 and Roy Smallwood had 10.
Tulsa went 10-of-20 on 3-point attempts, including 7-of-11 in the first half.
