Olsen Named WAC Player of the Week

Junior Danielle Olsen has been named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week, for the week of March 12-17.

Tulsa, Okla. - Tulsa's Danielle Olsen has been named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week, for the week of March 12-17.

Olsen a second baseman from Boulder, Colo. (Niwot HS) drove in 12 runs in eight games for the Golden Hurricane. Olsen had three RBI in a win over St. Peter's at the Winthrop Invitational. She had 12 hits and scored seven runs, hitting .462 in the eight games. Last season, Tulsa won 13 games. This season, the TU has already won 27 games with only two losses.

The Golden Hurricane owns the nation's longest current winning streak at 17 games. TU also rank No. 1 nationally in winning percentage at .931, ahead of national powers Arizona, Oklahoma, Stanford and UCLA.

Senior Jenny Magill narrowly missed being named the WAC's Pitcher of the Week. The Broken Arrow, Okla. (Bishop Kelley HS) native finished the week with three shutout victories in three complete games. She currently has 22 career shutouts which triples the next person in the TU record books. Her 380 career strikeouts are also a school record, giving her four career records and two single season records.

After a two-week tour of the Carolinas, Tulsa returns home to the Donna J. Hardesty Complex for a mid-week doubleheader with Pittsburg State on Wednesday, March 20. The games are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. The Lady Gorillas are coached by former TU assistant coach Jenifer Wells.
