TULSA, Okla. - Bill Whittemore ran for three touchdowns, passed for another and accounted for 395 total yards to lead Kansas past Tulsa 43-33 Saturday night.

Whittemore rushed for touchdowns of 74, 6 and 2 yards and hit Adrian Jones for a 10-yard TD pass as the Jayhawks (2-3) handed Tulsa (0-5) its 15th consecutive loss, the nation's longest losing streak.

Whittemore rushed for 177 yards and threw for 218 more on 18 of 31 passing in the first meeting between the two teams since 1992. Brandon Rideau had 5 catches for 93 yards.

Tyler Gooch led the Golden Hurricane with 236 passing yards and four touchdowns, but threw two interceptions that set up Kansas scores.

Eric Richardson rushed for 170 yards on 16 carries, and Montiese Culton caught 9 passes for 111 yards and three touchdowns for Tulsa.

Tulsa led 13-0 before Kansas scored 28 second-quarter points - all on the ground - for a 28-13 halftime lead. The Golden Hurricane have given up 98 first-half points in their last three games.

Donnie Amadi's interception at the Tulsa 31-yard line started a short Jayhawks scoring drive, and Remuise Johnson picked Gooch off with 1:10 left in the half to set up Whittemore's second score with 4 seconds left.

Clark Green and Austine Nwabuisi also scored in the first half as Kansas won its first nonconference road game since 1998.

Green rushed for 38 yards on 18 carries, and Zach Dyer was 3-of-5 for 48 yards after replacing Whittemore in the fourth quarter.

Gooch hit Culton for touchdowns of 30, 16 and 6 yards and Caleb Blankenship from 8 yards out.

Tulsa scored first in the second half to pull to 28-19, but Whittemore's 74-yard touchdown shifted momentum back to the Jayhawks for good.
