WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Jamar Howard scored 23 points and Wichita State came on strong early in the second half to beat Tulsa 66-58 Saturday night.
It was the first of five home games in 20 days for Wichita State (7-2), which dedicated its new Charles Koch Arena before a capacity crowd of 10,412.
The Shockers blew the game open with a 14-2 spurt to take a 48-37 lead with 10:21 left in the game.
Aaron Hogg led that surge with a 3-point basket and a basket inside. Howard, who wore a brace for a sprained knee, made 3-of-4 free throws in that rally.
Tulsa (3-4) could manage only a basket inside by Anthony Price and never recovered.
Randy Burns had 14 points for the Shockers, 13 in the second half.
Tulsa was led by Jason Parker with 16 points. Brian Caldwell added 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Golden Hurricane.
