Tulsa Defeated By Hawaii In Overtime

HONOLULU (AP) - Carl English got 24 of his 28 points on 3-pointers Saturday night as Hawaii held on to defeat Tulsa 73-67 in overtime.
The Rainbow Warriors (13-5, 6-4 Western Athletic Conference), in moving into third place two games behind Fresno State, also got 16 points from Phil Martin and 12 points and 11 rebounds from Haim Shimonovich.
Hawaii appeared ready to turn the game into a rout, moving out to a 15-point lead in the first half with English hitting five 3-pointers. The Rainbow Warriors also dominated the boards, 25-12, in building a 40-28 halftime lead.
However, the Golden Hurricane (11-7, 4-5) went on a 14-2 run to start the second half and moved ahead for the first time, 46-45, on a follow-up by Kevin Johnson with 12:25 left.
A 3-pointer by Michael Kuebler gave Hawaii a 56-50 lead, but Tulsa rallied behind Jason Parker and Johnson to tie the score at 60 at the end of regulation. Parker's drive with 10.9 seconds left sent the game into overtime.
English hit a 3-pointer and added a pair of free throws to put Hawaii ahead for good.
Parker was high scorer for Tulsa with 22 points, with Johnson getting 16, 12 in the second half, and 11 rebounds.
The Golden Hurricane had five more field goals, but Hawaii outscored them from the foul line, 14-2.
