Men's Basketball Blows Over UTEP, 81-58

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Dante Swanson sparked a second-half run that helped Tulsa seal an 81-58 victory over Texas-El Paso Saturday night in a Western Athletic Conference game.
The Golden Hurricane opened the second half with a 23-10 spurt and UTEP couldn't catch them after that.
Jason Parker led the Golden Hurricane (14-8, 7-6 WAC) with 17 points and Swanson finished with 16, including four second-half 3-pointers.
Swanson hit a 3-pointer on Tulsa's first possession of the second half. He hit another moments later to give the Golden Hurricane a 40-28 lead and a three-point play by Parker made it 53-34 at 11:03.
Giovanni St. Amant led UTEP (4-18, 2-11 WAC) with 19 points, but made just 8 of 23 field goals. The Miners shot 34.5 percent for the game and had 15 turnovers to just six for Tulsa.
Kevin Johnson, who finished with 12, had a third of Tulsa's first-half points as the Hurricane struggled to a 30-24 halftime lead. Tulsa shot 35.7 percent but UTEP went only 8 of 31 (25.8 percent) from the field.
