Golden Hurricane Dominates San Jose State, 74-53

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Dante Swanson scored 21 points and Tulsa held San Jose State without a field goal for the first seven minutes of the second half on the way to a 74-53 victory Saturday night.
It was the 15th win for Tulsa in 16 meetings with San Jose State (6-19, 3-13 WAC), which played without its second- and third-leading scorers in Keith West and Antonio Lawrence.
West has an ankle injury, while Lawrence was left home for an unspecified disciplinary reason.
Kevin Johnson had 14 points, seven rebounds, six blocks and three assists for Tulsa (17-9, 10-6 WAC), while Jason Parker added 10.
Tulsa jumped out to a 19-10 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game and led 32-22 at halftime.
The Golden Hurricane increased the advantage to 47-24 before Scott Sonnenberg connected on a short jumper for the Spartans' first basket at 7:01 in the second half.
Brandon Hawkins had 14 points and six rebounds for the Spartans, who were outrebounded 46-23 and shot just 31 percent to 51 percent for the Hurricane.
Tulsa made 52.9 percent of its 3-points shots as Swanson canned five of seven.
