The newcomers include Erin Abercrombie (Tulsa, Okla.), Krista Barker (Keller, Texas), Susan Day (Coweta, Okla.), Kristie Keirsey (Owasso, Okla.) and Katie Ward (Waco, Texas).

Abercrombie is a 5'7" midfielder from Tulsa's Booker T. Washington High School. A three-time member of the all-district team, she has led her team in scoring over the past three seasons and is a two-time team MVP. Abercrombie is a four-year member of the Oklahoma Olympic Development Team (ODP) and was selected to the Region III Pool. She played for the TSC `85 club team.

"Erin is a technically sound player who should compete in the midfield for playing time during her first season," Gore said."

A 5'3" forward from Keller High (Texas) School, Barker is a three-time selection to the all-district team and has spent the past four seasons as a member and team captain of the D'Feeters Club Team. She is also a member of the NTSSA state team.

"Krista is a standout forward. She has excellent speed, a solid work rate and goal-scoring capability. We will look for her to contribute early in her career at TU," Gore said.

Day is a 5'4" junior transfer from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She spent two seasons at NSU and led the Lady reds to an 11-7-2 record in 2002. Day started 19 of 20 games as a forward and completed the 2002 season ranked third on the team in goals and scoring with nine goals and nine assists for 27 points. She was the team's second-leading assists leader and notched three game-winning goals. As a freshman, Day was named NSU's Most Valuable Offensive Player and was a second-team all-conference performer. A native of Coweta, she was a four-time MVP and all-district selection at Coweta High School. She set school records for single-season goals and assists and was an all-state performer as a senior.

"Susan is a very good forward who will push for a starting position this fall," Gore said.

Keirsey is a 5'3" midfield/forward combination player from Owasso High (Okla.) School. She is an all-district player who has served as team captain and earned her high school's "Miss Hustle" Award. Kersey has led her club team, the Hurricane `85, to six state titles and is also team captain of the squad.

"Kristie may be the most tenacious and hard working player we have ever recruited at TU. She should have an immediate impact on our team this season," Gore said.

Ward, a 5'8" midfielder, comes to Tulsa from Waco, Texas, where she prepped at Crawford High School. She is a member of the D`Feeters Club Team in Dallas, Texas. The team has been ranked among the top-20 club teams in the nation. Ward earned all-district honors in cross country.

"Katie is an ambidextrous wide midfield player who we expect will have a great career at The University of Tulsa," Gore said.

"We are extremely happy to attract these quality student-athletes to The University of Tulsa. This is an offensive dominated class and I expect it to blend well with our current team members and have a successful 2003 season," Gore added.
