Tulsa Players Earn Preseason Soccer Honors

Sophomores Danielle Fauteux and Jamie German were selected to the Preseason All-WAC team.

Denver, Colorado - The University of Tulsa placed two women soccer players on the 2003 Preseason All-WAC team as voted on by the league's coaches, the Western Athletic Conference office announced today.

Sophomores Danielle Fauteux (British Columbia, Canada) and Jamie German (Owasso, Okla.) were selected to the preseason team. The duo combined to score 43 of Tulsa's 75 points a year ago, while scoring 16 goals and tallying 11 assists.

Fauteux, a first-team all-WAC selection as a freshman last year, led the team in scoring with 25 points and goals scored with 11. Her 25 points was the second most in school history by a freshman. A forward, Fauteaux was also selected to the Soccer Buzz Central Region All-Freshman Team.

German, a midfielder, totaled five goals and a team-best eight assists for 18 points to rank second on the team last season. She was selected second-team all-WAC and was named the team's offensive player of the year. German's eight assists is the most by a freshman in school history.

The Tulsa women's soccer team opens the regular season on Friday, August 29 against Stephen F. Austin at the new Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
