DALLAS (AP) - Cedrick Dorsey scored on a 25-yard touchdown run in overtime then Jamey Harper intercepted a pass at the goal line to preserve Southern Methodist's 41-35 victory over Tulsa on Saturday.
Dorsey rushed 10 times for 94 yards as SMU (2-7, 2-4 Western Athletic) beat Tulsa for the eighth time in their last nine meetings.
Tulsa (2-7, 1-4) forced the overtime on quarterback James Killian's second 1-yard TD run of the game and his 2-point conversion pass to Garret Mills with 2:38 left.
Killian went 14-of-31 for 250 yards and also ran for 30 yards and two scores. His final pass, on third-and-goal, was his only interception.
SMU took a 35-24 lead on Tony Eckert's 12-yard touchdown pass to Reynaldo Pellerin with 10:48 left. Eckert was 15-of-25 for 201 yards and a score.
The loss spoiled a record day for Tulsa kick returner Ashlan Davis.
His 96-yard return in the third quarter set the NCAA record for most kickoff returns for a touchdown in a season with four, breaking the mark held by seven players. He also set the record for most consecutive games with a kickoff return for a touchdown with four. The record of three was set in 1970 by Purdue's Stan Brown.
The Mustangs built a 24-7 lead at halftime as fullback Derron Brown had rushing touchdowns of 1 and 3 yards. SMU's 24 first-half points were more than the Mustangs had scored in six of their first seven games.
The Golden Hurricane finished with 353 yards of offense and scored at least 35 points for the fifth time in the last six games.
