Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa softball team received 13 points in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association coaches' poll. Listed in the "Others Receiving Votes" section, TU ranks 35th nationally. TU's point total is the highest total ever recorded by the Hurricane. Last season, Tulsa was ranked as high as 35th but did not record over double-digit points.

The Golden Hurricane will face one of its toughest schedules in school history for 2004. At least 11 teams on this season's agenda competed in an NCAA Regional in 2003, with two teams playing in the NCAA College World Series.

TU has already defeated one Regional team in 2004, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (6-3). The Hurricane lost 1-0 to Texas State in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Bobcats were one game away from the World Series in 2003, losing to Texas in the Regional final.

Looking ahead, Tulsa will travel to No. 7 Alabama in addition to a home-and-home series with No. 4 Oklahoma. Both the Crimson Tide and Sooners participated in last season's World Series. A total of four TU opponents are currently ranked in the top-25 nationally with three more receiving votes.
