Louisiana Tech Baffles Hurricane, Again

Ruston, La. - After a 20-hour rain delay, The University of Tulsa's softball game with Louisiana Tech in Ruston, La., was finally called due to heavy rains in the area. With four and a half innings in the books and with the Lady Techsters holding a 1-0 lead, the game was made official. The game will not be finished and the second game of the doubleheader will not be made up as well.
The loss snaps an 11-game winning streak for the Hurricane, who are one of only 12 teams in the country to have won 40 contests this season.
Louisiana Tech scored in the bottom of the first inning by recording three of its five hits in the inning. Juniors Amber Miles and Brittany Stanley recorded back-to-back singles to open the inning. Stanley would score on a two-out single by sophomore Mary Cohn.
Junior Ami Day records the loss in her 12th complete game of the season. Junior Stacey Walkingstick and sophomore Kelly Miller posted TU's two hits on the day. When Miller was hit by a pitch in the fourth inning, the Golden Hurricane tied the school record for hit batsman in a season with 24.
Tulsa will return to action with a WAC doubleheader at Nevada on May 6th. The Hurricane will conclude its current road swing with a doubleheader on May 8th at Fresno State.
