• Tulsa's travel roster of 67 players included 34 sophomores or freshmen, including 13 true freshmen and 7 red-shirt freshmen. • Among the 22 starters in the game, only two were making their first career starting assignment - true freshman Brandon Jones at nose guard and junior college transfer Ashlan Davis at receiver. • This was the third straight season opener that Tulsa did not score in the first quarter. • For the first time in the last three season openers, Tulsa scored the first points in the game with a field goal. • Junior college transfer Chris Barnes had a quarterback sack of -3 yards on his first play of the game in his first career action. • James Kilian moved into 10th place on the school's career total offense chart with 3,507 career yards. He surpassed Tyler Gooch (2001-02) for the 10th place position. He now needs 771 yards to move into ninth place. • The loss marked the third consecutive year that Tulsa has dropped the season opener.
