Tulsa-Fresno State Post-Game Quotes

Tulsa Head Coach Alvin "Pooh" Williamson:
"First off, I give a lot of credit to Fresno. That was a hard fought game. I feel like I played about 20 minutes myself. They have a good team, plenty of good young players and obviously they got a good mix. They have a couple of older guys who have been there for awhile so that really helps them out. As far as Coleman, out of the nine threes that he took eight and a half were with a guy hanging out him. He still jumps up and makes more then half of them, he makes five out of nine and has 25 points. We talked about that though, that is the way Coleman is. He's a heck of a shooter. We talked about it yesterday in practice, don't hang your heads when he makes one. Don't let the one lead to two or three more. To our guys credit too, they kept fighting and they kept fighting, and he was making them. They didn't hang their heads, they made him shoot the next one over a hand even higher or closer in his face, almost blocking it. So give them credit, they have a really, really good team and they are going to win some games, a lot of games in this league with those young guys."

Did you think `Here we go again?' when Fresno was awarded the ball on the back court call?
"Its just one of those things that we keep talking about. You can't wait for someone to give you a break to have it happen for you, you have to make it yourself. And it came out today where we had to get a defensive stop. Guys did what they had to do. It wasn't easy because they were good offensively. We did what we had to do and our guys stepped up and made some big stops. We had some guys jump up and get a few rebounds that earlier in the year could have been going either way. It could have easily been tipped out of bounds or the opposition gets the ball and ends up getting the stick-back. But tonight, we jumped up and squeezed it and got that rebound that we had to have. "

On the Locker room emotion following the win:
"They were excited. They wanted to win as bad as anyone else sitting in this arena and probably more so to be honest with you. We talked. I told them to remember the feeling that they had right now, we have plenty of other opportunities to have this same feeling, so don't just be so excited from one. You have a lot of other opportunities to have this same feeling. That is what we talked about. They were excited, don't get me wrong. If they didn't act like they were excited I would have asked them what was wrong. It was a jolly locker room but they didn't act like they had just won a championship. "

On the guard play making:
"Brett McDade ended up getting points even tonight. He ends up with 15 but that wasn't the best thing he brought to us. His energy is. He comes out in the second half and we had to talked to about keeping White out of the paint, that was the best thing he did. As far as playmaking, I'd like to see it get a lot better. We had some careless turnovers. We executed a couple of plays and had guys wide open and threw balls out of bounds. We had a guy travel with a guy standing right underneath the basket, wide open. It was better but it still wasn't great. Its getting better but still not where I want it to be, far from where I want it to be."
