Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Doug Wojcik era will begin on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Hurricane takes on Southeastern Oklahoma State at 12 noon in the first of two exhibition games for the Tulsa men's basketball team.

Following the men, the Tulsa women will face Cameron University in their first exhibition contest as well. It will also be the first game for new Hurricane head coach Charlene Thomas-Swinson.

The Tulsa men return five letterwinners and has 10 newcomers, including two junior college transfers, six scholarship freshmen and two walk-on freshmen.

For the Tulsa men, leading the way is senior center Anthony Price (6'8), who returns as Tulsa's leading scorer and rebounder with a 13.3 scoring average and 4.7 average on the boards.

"Anthony Price has been very consistent in his efforts, and I expect big things out of him," said Wojcik.

Wojcik will lean on his other senior -- Chris Wallace -- for leadership as well. "I expect great things out of Chris as far as taking care of the ball, getting loose balls and making open shots," said Wojcik.

Wallace led the Hurricane last year in three-point shooting by converting 36-percent of his treys. He averaged 6.2 points and 2.9 rebounds in his junior campaign.

Three more returnees, junior forward Charles Ramsdell and sophomore guards Brett McDade and Deion James, who will be counted on to help with the maturation process of this young team.

The 6'10" Ramsdell is a great athlete who has the ability to shoot the ball from long range, while McDade is the most athletic of the Hurricane letterwinners. As a red-shirt freshman last year, McDade averaged 9.6 points 2.6 assists while starting 24 games. James started 15 games as a true freshman and made steady progress throughout the season. He ended the campaign by averaging 5.0 points and 2.6 rebounds.

Darold Crow and Roderick Earls, the two junior college transfers, will also be counted on to provide maturity to this rather young team.

Wojcik and his coaching staff will utilize the athleticism and versatility of this year's squad to maximize the potential of this Hurricane team.

Tickets are available at the gate or by calling the TU athletic ticket office at 918-631-GoTU. Ticket prices start at $10.00 for men, and $5.00 general admission for the women.
