Opening Statement:
"It was a tale of two halves. We played well in the first half and did what we wanted to do, particularly on defense. Second half, give them credit for hanging in there and fighting hard and doing what they needed to do, but we turned it over and didn't shoot free throws particularly well. It was a good win. It was a win. It beats the alternative, but we need to continue to get better at taking care of the basketball."
On killer instinct...
"I don't think they have ever been in that position. How are they going to know killer instinct? I wrote killer instinct on the board before the game. It does take time and it does take experience, you have to have people controlling the game, and we let the defense control us in the second half. It will take time, but it is certainly on my mind."
On closing out the game...
"It is always coach versus the players/team. You warn them of that opportunity or that something like that can happen, but at the same time, we were up 31-12. If you are ranting and raving as a coach when you are up 31-12, we should have probably had 40. You have to have that balance there to teach them, warn them, have them aware of this; or do you get after them. They know I am not happy right now, deservedly so, but we told them. It is not like they are trying to turn the ball over. I don't think there is one guy on my team trying to turn the ball over, I don't think there is one guy on my team trying to miss a free throw. At some point you have to do it, at some point you can't throw the ball away."
On the point guard position...
"I have always felt that the point guard position is a critical position. It is like the quarterback in football, the difference is there is no stoppage in play. As a coach, you can't just stop the play unless you call a timeout. The guard is a very critical guy to be successful."
