Feb. 15, 2005

Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa Head Coach Steve Kragthorpe announced today the signing of California prep quarterback Drew Westling to a national letter-of-intent. Westling's signing increases Tulsa's total number of football signees to 25.

Westling (6'3", 215 lbs) was the starting quarterback as a senior at Aliso Niguel High School. He led his prep team to a 10-2 record and the CIF quarterfinals. Westling completed 216-of-350 passes for 2,988 yards and 28 touchdowns in his senior season. He also rushed for 124 yards and seven touchdowns.

Westling was the MVP of the Sea View Conference in the 2004 campaign. He led Orange County in passing his senior season, as he passed for more yards than the nation's top quarterback prospect from the same area (Mission Viejo quarterback Mark Sanchez, who signed with USC).

"We're excited about the addition of Drew to our 2005 recruiting class," said Kragthorpe. "We wanted to make sure we found the right fit at the quarterback position, and we're confident that we have with Drew. We're excited to get him on campus."
