Tucson, Ariz. - The University of Tulsa softball team scored seven runs with two outs in the top of the sixth inning for a dramatic 8-6 victory over Oklahoma State in the final game of the day at the Arizona Pepsi Classic in Tucson, Ariz. The game concluded after only six innings due to a park curfew. The win over OSU evened Tulsa's record at 2-2, as the Golden Hurricane also defeated New Mexico State, 9-4, earlier in the day.

Trailing 6-1 heading into the top of the sixth inning, freshman Sara Dyer and junior Kelly Miller got the rally started with back-to-back walks. Sophomore Angela Osbon was then safe at first to load the bases. Dyer later scored on a failed pick off play at third after a strike out gave TU two outs.

Senior Stacey Walkingstick kept the rally going with a walk to reload the bases. Miller and Osbon scored on a double by freshman Lindsey Tower. Senior Stephanie Sliepen doubled in Walkingstick and Tower to make the score 6-6. After a pitching change sophomore Lindsey Galloway walked, followed by back-to-back RBI singles by junior Katie Torres and Dyer for the final two-run margin.

Sophomore Julie Fennell started the game in the circle for the Hurricane, pitching into the fifth inning. She scattered six hits, allowing three earned runs and three walks. Fennell also struck out four Cowgirls. Senior Ami Day pitched the final five outs to pick up her first win of the season. Dyer posted a 3-for-3 performance for the Hurricane, while Torres also posted a pair of hits.

In its first game of the day, TU pounded out 11 hits while scoring nine runs in a 9-4 win over New Mexico State. Seven of TU's nine starting hitters posted at least one hit against the Aggies. Walkingstick, Tower, Tores and Miller all recorded two hits apiece. Galloway hit the Hurricane's first home run of the season as well.

Already leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning, Tulsa exploded for six runs in the inning. NMSU cut the deficit in the fifth inning with four runs to make it 7-4. TU added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth inning for the final margin.

Tulsa will conclude the tournament on Sunday with a 1 p.m. (CST) contest against Kansas.
