Fresno, Calif. - The University of Tulsa dropped its seventh consecutive Western Athletic Conference contest on Saturday, losing 2-0 to Fresno State before a crowd of 2,544 at Bulldog Diamond. The win improved Fresno State to 32-10 (8-1 WAC), while TU fell to 22-30 (2-7 WAC).
Juniors Julie Shafer and Kelly Miller posted TU's two hits in the contest. Senior Stacey Walkingstick recorded her WAC leading 20th sacrifice hit in the contest as well. She now needs only two more sacrifices to tie the school record for sacrifices in a season.
Junior Maren Genow picked up the loss for TU in her 10th complete game of the season. She struck out three Bulldog batters while allowing two runs in the fifth inning. She held Fresno State to only four hits during the contest as well.
Tulsa will complete the month of April and its nine-game road swing with a trip to El Paso, Texas and a three-game series against UTEP. The Hurricane will finish the season with six games at the friendly confines of the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex. The first of those games will be May 6 as TU hosts Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m.
