Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa Head Basketball Coach Doug Wojcik confirmed today that Sean Coleman, from Houston's Westbury Christian High School, has officially signed a scholarship agreement with the Golden Hurricane.
Coleman, a 6'8", 190-pound forward, averaged over 12 points and six rebounds while helping his school post a 34-6 record and win the Class 5A State Championship this past season. He also connected on 43-percent of his three-point attempts during his senior campaign.
A three-year letterwinner and two-year starter, Coleman earned first-team all-district as well as first team TAPPS Class 5A all-state accolades. He was also selected to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) all-state team as a senior.
"The fact that Sean shoots the ball so well and has a tremendous desire to improve as a player makes him a great match for Coach Wojcik at Tulsa," said Westbury Christian Head Coach Greg Glenn. "Coach Wojcik recognizes the upside that Sean possesses. He has a terrific work ethic."
"Sean is an extremely versatile forward with very good ball skills and three-point shooting ability," said Wojcik. "He brings a winning attitude, unselfishness, and the potential to be a scorer. Sean really wants to be at Tulsa and we're excited to have him join our program."
The signing of Coleman brings the number of newcomers to the Tulsa roster in 2005-06 to seven, including five incoming freshmen.
