Kumar Joins Hurricane Softball Staff

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa head softball coach John Bargfeldt appointment the addition of Kirin Kumar to the Golden Hurricane staff.

Kumar recently graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in May with a degree in business management. She was a utility player for the Yellow Jackets, playing mostly at second base. Kumar played under Bargfeldt at Georgia Tech during the 2004 season.

The Santa Ana, Calif., native saved her best season in a Yellow Jacket uniform for her senior campaign in 2005. Starting 61 of the team's 65 games, she helped lead Tech to an ACC Tournament title and a runner-up finish at the NCAA Athens Regional. During the post season, she led the ramblin' wreck with a .353 batting average, including a .500 average at the ACC Tournament while earning a spot on the all-tournament team. On the season, she finished fourth on the squad with a .322 batting average with six doubles and 20 RBI. Kumar also posted a .348 on-base percentage and a .986 fielding percentage.

Her 251 games played ranks second all-time at Georgia Tech.
