TULSA, Okla. (AP) -Darold Crow scored a career-high 27 points to help Tulsa beat NCAA Division II Southern Arkansas 88-56 on Sunday.
After racing to a 26-8 lead in the first 12 minutes, Tulsa was outplayed for a long stretch, and the visitors climbed within 53-44 early in the second half on a layup by Cory Green, who led the Muleriders (3-5) with 14 points.
Then the 6-foot-7 Crow, noted for his strong second-half play, took over. He scored on a 3-pointer and a drive to increase the lead to 58-44. He then drove and made an assist to Ray Reese for a layup.
After two free throws by Brett McDade, Crow hit three consecutive mid-range jumpers, then another 3-pointer that made it 71-52 Tulsa with 7:30 to play.
Crow made 12 of 14 field goals overall and scored 19 in the second half. His previous career high was 24 earlier this season at North Texas.
McDade and Sam Mitchell added 11 points each for the Hurricane, which shot about 60 percent (35-58) from the field while holding Southern Arkansas to 37.5 percent.
Tulsa outrebounded the Muleriders 38-24 and had 18 assists versus eight turnovers. Brandon Williams had 10 points and Reggie Tims 10 for Southern Arkansas, 3-6.
Tulsa (7-1) has matched its best start since the 2002-03 season.
