Tulsa Opens Home Schedule with Holiday Inn Select-Tulsa Festival

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa softball team will open its home schedule this week by hosting the fourth annual Holiday Inn Select-Festival. TU has played 10 games in the tournament, winning seven of them, including a co-championship in 2004.
Squads from Boston College, Creighton, Eastern Illinois, Louisiana-Monroe and North Texas will also comprise the 2006 festival field.
Tulsa will have a mix of old friends and new rivals at this year's tournament. The Golden Hurricane and Boston College have never faced on the softball diamond. Tulsa defeated EIU in their only meeting, while UNT defeated TU in their only meeting. However, TU, Creighton and ULM are very familiar. The Bluejays own a 12-1 advantage over the Hurricane, while TU owns an 11-5 record against the Lady Indians.
TU will conclude the opening day of the festival with back-to-back contests on Friday, facing EIU at 5 p.m., then Creighton at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Tulsa faces ULM at 3 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. contest against Boston College. Sunday's competition will finish with a 1 p.m. contest featuring Tulsa and North Texas.
