Genow Named C-USA Pitcher of the Week

Tulsa, Okla. - Senior Maren Genow won two contests last weekend at the Holiday Inn Select-Tulsa Festival, helping lead The University of Tulsa to the team title. For her efforts, she was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week.
Genow recorded her 19th career shutout with a 7-0 victory over Eastern Illinois, to move into sole possession of second place a on the career chart. Earlier this season she became the first TU player to record 50 career wins, currently with 51. Against EIU, she posted a season-high 10 strikeouts.
Genow opened the tournament with 12.1 scoreless innings, allowing only a pair of runs in the championship game for a 0.98 earned run average on the weekend. She was also named to the Holiday Inn Select-Tulsa Festival All-Tournament Team.
The Golden Hurricane returns to action on Friday by hosting the Best Western Airport Festival at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex. Nationally ranked Nebraska, along with Notre Dame, Kansas, Stephen F. Austin and Northern Iowa will also take part in the festival.
