Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa Head Basketball Coach Doug Wojcik announced today the appointment of Jeremy Ballard as an assistant basketball coach.
Ballard, 26, spent the past three seasons as an assistant basketball coach at his alma mater, Colgate University. Before that, Ballard coached the Atlanta All-Stars AAU program for one year.
"Jeremy is a young and energetic coach who we are excited to have join our basketball program. He gained valuable coaching and recruiting experience in his three years at Colgate," said Wojcik. "He played and coached for Emmett Davis at Colgate, one of my closest friends in the coaching profession."
A 2003 graduate of Colgate, Ballard earned four varsity letters with the Raiders, and served as a co-captain in his senior season. He played in 63 games during his career including 18 starting assignments during the 2002-03 campaign.
He was only the third two-time winner of the prestigious ECAC Merit Medal Award in Colgate history, and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2002 and 2003.
In 2001, Ballard received the team's Hasan Brown Award, given to the player who typifies the spirit of Colgate basketball, and in 2003 he was the recipient of the Coaches Award as the best defensive player.
"With Jeremy having attended and coached at Colgate University, he fits in well with the type of student-athlete that we recruit and coach at The University of Tulsa," added Wojcik.
Ballard received his bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Religion.
