Tulsa Opens Conference USA Play on Saturday

Calvin Walls leads Tulsa in rebounding with a 9.o average.

Orlando, Fla. - The Tulsa Golden Hurricane men's hoops team opens Conference USA play on Saturday night against the UCF Knights. Game time is 6:00 pm (CT) and the contest can be heard on KRMG Radio 740 AM or at TU's official athletic website .

Tulsa enters the contest with an overall 8-4 mark, while UCF has an 8-7 overall record and began C-USA play on Wednesday night with a 52-41 road victory at Southern Miss for a 1-0 league mark.

Six of UCF losses this year have come against No. 19 Villanova, No. 18 Kansas State as well as USF, Ole Miss, Nevada and Connecticut.

The Knights comes into the game with its three guards each scoring in double digits, led by junior Jermaine Taylor's 19.5 points. Junior Dave Noel averages 13.1 points, while senior Mike O'Donnell scores at a 10.3 clip.

Tulsa enters the contest with a six-game winning streak, including its first true road victory of the season on Monday night against Colorado, 81-68. The Hurricane has shot .542 from the field in the last five games, while also shooting 46-percent from three-point range.

In its eight victories, Tulsa has a 20.4 win margin while also out-rebounding its opponent by a 13.1 margin. The Hurricane has averaged 78.5 points during its six-game winning streak.

Sophomore Ben Uzoh leads Tulsa in scoring with a 16.0 average, while freshman Glenn Andrews comes of the bench to score at a 10.1 clip. Senior Calvin Walls is Tulsa's leading rebounder with a 9.0 average.

Tulsa leads the overall series by a 3-2 count. The two teams split games last year with each winning on its own home court. Tulsa scored a 66-64 overtime victory last February, while UCF has won its two games at home in each of the last two seasons.
