TULSA HOSTS NO. 1 MEMPHIS ON WEDNESDAY

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Tulsa will be back in action at home on Wednesday night against the No. 1-ranked team in the nation as the Memphis Tigers visit the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

Memphis (17-0, 4-0 C-USA) moved into the top spot this week in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll after previous No. 1 North Carolina lost at home against Maryland on Saturday. It will be the 10th time in school history that the Golden Hurricane has played the No. 1-ranked team, and the first time since playing Duke in the second round of the 1999 NCAA Tournament.
Tulsa (9-6, 1-2 C-USA) is coming off a 72-71 last second victory over the SMU Mustangs, after losing its first two C-USA contests in overtime, at UCF in triple OT and a single overtime loss against Tulane.
The last time Tulsa hosted the No.1 ranked team was on December 23, 1993, when the Hurricane took the Arkansas Razorbacks into overtime before losing 93-91 at the Tulsa Convention Center Arena. Memphis will be the first top-ranked team to visit the Reynolds Center in the 10 years of the building.
The only other time the Tigers have been ranked No. 1 was in 1983, when they moved into the top spot on Jan. 10.
Memphis received 21 of 31 first-place votes in the coaches' poll and 765 points, whie in the Associated Press poll the Tigers earned 49 first-place votes. Kansas was second in both polls, earning 23 first-place votes in the AP poll and 10 in the ESPN/USA Today poll.
Memphis has won 27 straight Conference USA games, including tournament contests, with the last league loss coming on March 2, 2006 when UAB handed the Tigers an 80-74 defeat in Birmingham.
Game time for the Tulsa-Memphis contest is scheduled for 7:05 pm and will be nationally televised on CSTV.
