- Today's honorary captain for Tulsa is former TU and Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Tony Liscio (1959-62).
- Moton Hopkins started his 29th consecutive game at defensive end and offensive guard Justin Morsey started his 30th straight contest.

- Tarrion Adams moved into second place on the school's all-time rushing chart with 2,647 yards, surpassing Eric Richardson's total of 2,645 by two yards.

- Tulsa's three first-quarter points was the fewest in the first quarter for the Hurricane since the SMU game last year in Game 8, when Tulsa was held scoreless.
- Tulsa trailed at the end of the first quarter for the first time since the season opener when Tulsa trailed UAB 13-7 at the end of the first period.
- Michael Such punted twice in the first half against SMU, it marked only the second game this year that he punted more one time in an entire game.
- Slick Shelley has caught a touchdown pass in each of the last four games, after not catching one in Tulsa's first two contests.
- Tulsa trailed at halftime 17-13. The last time Tulsa trailed at halftime was against UAB in the season opener, 22-21. It's also the second straight year that Tulsa has trailed SMU at halftime, as last year SMU led 13-7.
