Box Score

Norman, Okla. - The University of Tulsa softball team could not overcome six first inning walks on Wednesday night, falling to Oklahoma 8-0 in six innings at the OU Softball Complex in Norman, Okla. The Sooners needed only four hits to score their eight runs as OU improves to 13-4, while TU falls to 6-7.

Senior Sara Dyer recorded her team-best seventh double of the season in the first inning, but could not score. In the bottom of the first OU scored three runs on six walks and a sacrifice fly. Junior Katie Lee relieved freshman Jordan Kinard in the first, allowing only one run in four and a third innings.

Tulsa best threat came in the third inning as the Golden Hurricane loaded the bases. Freshman Kelly Chapman earned a one-out walk, followed by sophomore Lauren Lindsay's single to centerfield. Dyer then earned a two-out walk to load the bases, however the Hurricane could not get the needed hit to break into the scoring column.

Lindsay's hit extended her hitting streak to eight games, but she is not the only Hurricane hitter with a hitting streak. Dyer, last year's national leader in doubles, has posted at least one hit in the last six contests. Sophomore Christian Timmons has posted hits in the last five games.

Tulsa will travel even further south this weekend, for the Easton Purple and Gold Challenge, hosted by LSU in Baton Rouge, La. In addition to the ninth ranked Tigers, Conference USA rival Southern Miss, South Alabama and Penn State will take part in the Challenge.
